Christus resurgens by Gregor Lange — Lyrics

About Christus resurgens

Gregor Lange's Christus resurgens is a powerful motet for SSATTB voices, sung in Latin. This sacred work draws on biblical accounts of Christ's resurrection, proclaiming "Christ rising from the dead, dies now no more; death shall have no dominion over him." The text, rich with theological meaning, emphasizes Christ's sacrifice for sins and his subsequent resurrection for our justification. The second part challenges disbelief, asking "Let the Jews now say how the soldiers guarding the tomb lost the King." It directly questions the guards' failure to secure the tomb and concludes by urging all to adore the risen Christ, joining in the triumphant "Alleluia."
