Beatus vir qui non abiit in consilio impiorum, et in via peccatorum non stetit, et in cathedra pestilentiae non sedit;
sed in lege Domini voluntas ejus, et in lege ejus meditabitur die ac nocte.

About Beatus vir
This setting of Psalm 1, Beatus vir, for double SATB choir is ideal for liturgical use, perhaps during Lent or Advent. The text contrasts the righteous man, whose delight is in the law of the Lord, with the ungodly. Gumpelzhaimer vividly portrays the imagery of the righteous as a tree planted by streams of water, fruitful and ever green, while the wicked are scattered like chaff. The rich choral texture of the double choir allows for a grand and sonorous interpretation, enhancing the solemnity and prophetic nature of the psalm.
