Chiara Margarita Cozzolani's Beatus Vir is a setting of a Latin text from Psalm 112, which speaks of the blessings bestowed upon the righteous and those who fear the Lord. The text describes the prosperity and enduring legacy of the just, their light shining in darkness, and their steadfast hope. This motet is written for a large choir, divided into two groups of SSAATTBB, allowing for rich contrapuntal textures and dramatic contrasts.
