About Kyrie
The ancient plea for mercy forms the bedrock of this sacred work. The text, drawn from the liturgy, is familiar across many Christian traditions: Kyrie eleison (Lord, have mercy), Christe eleison (Christ, have mercy), Kyrie eleison (Lord, have mercy). Johan Lindegren sets this profound invocation for SSATB choir. The composer crafts a setting that respects the prayer's deep spiritual significance, while the layered voices of the choir offer a rich sonic response to the plea. This liturgical music offers a powerful moment of reflection and devotion.
