This responsory is suited for services during Holy Week, particularly Tenebrae. Pomponio Nenna sets the Latin text from the Gospel of Matthew, describing Christ's prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane. The music reflects the anguish and resignation of the text, with the SATB voices conveying the human plea and the divine acceptance.
