CHIDOZIE

"Chidozie" is a deeply moving Igbo prayer for spiritual restoration and healing. The title translates to "God repairs" or "God fixes," and the song carries the quiet, earnest plea of a soul asking to be made whole again. It opens with a profound recognition of Christ present in the Holy Eucharist ("Chukwu nọ n'oriri Nsọ"), asking that as we receive His body and blood, we are washed clean and transformed.

In the choir loft, this piece is especially powerful during Communion or the penitential seasons of Lent. The verses speak honestly about human frailty—confessing how the fleeting sweetness of sin can pull us away, and how the storms of life leave us weary ("Ike agwụgo mo"). The solo section beautifully recalls biblical figures whose lives were changed by an encounter with Jesus: Mary Magdalene, Zacchaeus, Saul, and the Samaritan woman. It reminds the congregation that the same God who rewrote their stories is still present at the altar, ready to mend our brokenness.
