CHIDOZIE

“Chidozie” is a heartfelt Igbo choral piece that speaks to the deep desire for spiritual renewal and divine guidance. The title itself translates to “God repairs” or “God restores,” and the lyrics echo this plea, asking the Lord to mend what is broken and to hold the singer firmly in His grace (“Jidesie nụ m'ike”). It is a song of surrender, acknowledging human weakness and the weariness of falling into sin, while trusting entirely in God’s power to cleanse and transform.

In the choir loft, this piece is often sung during the Offertory or as a Communion reflection, moments in the Mass when the faithful bring their imperfect selves to the altar. The verses draw on powerful biblical examples of restoration, mentioning Mary Magdalene and the Samaritan woman, reminding the congregation that God’s mercy changes lives and gives new names to those who seek Him.
