About Beati omnes
Adam Gumpelzhaimer's motet Beati omnes is a sacred work for double choir (SATB.SATB). The Latin text is drawn from Psalm 127, a passage that speaks of the blessings bestowed upon those who fear the Lord and walk in His ways. It describes a happy and fruitful household: a loving wife, flourishing children, and a long and peaceful life, witnessing the well-being of descendants. The composer uses the two choirs to create a rich and resonant sound, ideal for liturgical settings. The motet is a fine example of the contrapuntal tradition of sacred polyphony, exploring the text's message of domestic felicity and divine favour through intricate vocal interplay.
