About Beati omnes
Johann Staden’s Beati omnes is a sacred motet for double choir (SSAB and ATTB), setting a Latin text from Psalm 127. The music opens with a sense of profound peace and reflection, gradually building in warmth and assurance. The composer skillfully employs the two choirs, sometimes contrasting them, sometimes bringing them together in rich harmony. The text, often called the "Song of Ascents" or "Song of Degrees," speaks of the blessings of a devout life: the joy of labor, the fruitfulness of family, and the enduring peace that comes from fearing God.
