Alma Redemptoris

This powerful setting of the Marian antiphon Alma Redemptoris Mater is by Antonio Cifra. Designed for double choir (SATB.SATB), it is ideally suited for services during Advent and Christmastide, or for general Marian occasions. The text, a prayer to the Mother of God, calls for her succour, acknowledging her role as the gate of heaven and star of the sea. Cifra’s music vividly portrays the plea, with the two choirs interacting to create a rich and resonant soundscape. The motet’s intricate vocal writing and its grand choral forces make it a fitting centrepiece for a significant liturgical moment.
