About Agnus Dei
Tomaso Cecchino sets the Agnus Dei text in this SATTB work. The Latin text, a prayer for mercy and peace, is treated with devotional seriousness. Cecchino's setting unfolds with a rich, five-part texture, allowing each voice to contribute to the solemn invocation. The composer's approach to this integral part of the Mass Ordinary highlights the supplication inherent in the words, creating a musical offering that is both contemplative and compelling for the listener. This sacred motet is ideal for a choir seeking to explore the polyphonic tradition within a liturgical context.
