About Agnus Dei
Leone Leoni's Agnus Dei is written for double choir (SATB.SATB), offering a rich and sonorous texture. The Latin text, a central part of the Mass Ordinary, asks for mercy and peace. The setting, with its antiphonal possibilities and dense harmonies, creates a powerful and contemplative atmosphere. This work is particularly well-suited to choirs seeking to explore the grandeur of Renaissance polyphony within a sacred context. The interplay between the two choirs allows for dynamic contrast and a majestic unfolding of the familiar plea for divine compassion and lasting peace.
