About Ovbiohuan Osa
There is a profound, quiet reverence in the Agnus Dei, and this setting of "Ovbiohuan Osa" captures that solemnity beautifully in the Bini (Edo) language. Sung just before Communion, it is the moment the choir leads the congregation in acknowledging Christ as the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.
Written in solfa notation, the arrangement builds a gentle, layered harmony that feels both traditional and deeply prayerful. The repeated plea for mercy ("tohan mwan") gives way in the final invocation to the prayer for peace ("Rhie 'fuamwan ne mwan"), creating a natural, calming arc that prepares the heart for the Eucharist. It is a wonderful piece for choirs looking to bring indigenous reverence into the Mass.
