Okaka

“Okaka” is a vibrant, high-energy Igbo anthem of praise and thanksgiving. The title translates to “The Great One” or “The Almighty,” setting the tone for a piece entirely focused on giving God the glory He deserves. The song opens with a free, ad-libbed soprano solo calling out to the Almighty, before the full choir bursts in with a lively, rhythmic declaration: “Aga m enye Chukwu ekele” (I will give God thanks).

This piece is structured as a dynamic choral anthem, featuring distinct sections where baritone and soprano solos trade off with a driving, ostinato-like choir response. The choir repeats joyful affirmations of God's goodness (“Obu Chukwu 'ma,” “Ewo Chukwu nk'igwe”), building a sense of communal celebration.
