NWATURU NKE CHINEKE

"Nwaturu Nke Chineke" is a reverent Igbo setting of the Agnus Dei, the Lamb of God prayer sung during the fraction rite of the Mass. Composers Mike Paul Sochi and T.C Martins have crafted a piece that captures the deep petition of this moment, guiding the congregation as they prepare to receive Communion.

The arrangement opens with the familiar plea, "Onye na-ekpochapụ njọ nke ụwa, meere anyị ebere" (who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us). The vocal parts weave together in a traditional four-part harmony, allowing the choir to build a sense of solemnity and grace as the bread is broken at the altar.

In the final section, marked clearly as Verse 3 on the score, the prayer shifts to its concluding petition: "Nye anyị udo" (Grant us peace). The voices echo this request, creating a calming and prayerful atmosphere in the church just before the faithful step forward for the Eucharist.
