Missa of Love: Lamb of God

This sheet brings together two distinct settings of the Agnus Dei, a vital part of the Mass sung during the fraction rite. The first is from Jude Nnam’s "Missa of Love," sung in English. It carries a gentle, pleading tone, with the voices echoing the call for mercy before resolving into a final prayer for peace. Choirs often use this setting to create a deeply reverent atmosphere just before the congregation approaches the altar for Communion.

The second setting, composed by A. Ekandem, offers the same prayer in Yoruba as "Ọdọ Aguntan Ọlọrun." It follows the traditional structure of the Lamb of God, asking the one who takes away the sins of the world ("Ẹni to nko ẹṣẹ aye lọ") to have mercy ("Ṣanu fun wa") and finally to grant peace ("Fun wa l'alaafia"). Having both an English and an indigenous language option on one page gives choir directors flexibility, allowing them to choose the version that best fits the mood and language of their specific parish Mass.
