About In Convertendo
Francesco Cavalli’s In Convertendo is a sacred motet for SSTTB voices, sung in Latin. The text, drawn from Psalm 126, speaks of God restoring Zion from captivity. It describes the joy and exultation that follow, with the singers proclaiming God’s great deeds. The composer sets the psalm’s themes of sorrow giving way to rejoicing, using the imagery of those who sow in tears eventually reaping with shouts of joy. This motet offers a powerful musical setting of a text filled with profound spiritual meaning and hope.
