About Haleluyah haleli
Salamone Rossi was a significant composer of the Italian Jewish diaspora in the early Baroque era, known for his synagogal music and secular works. This SATB motet, Haleluyah haleli, draws on both Latin and Hebrew texts, characteristic of the period's sacred music. The Latin sections, including psalm verses and a Marian antiphon, are interspersed with Hebrew elements, creating a rich liturgical mosaic. The music reflects the text's praise and supplication, with Rossi's characteristic contrapuntal skill and harmonic inventiveness evident in the setting of these powerful scriptural passages.
