Ein gute Wehr und Waffen.
Er hilft uns frei aus aller Not,

About Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott
Melchior Franck’s motet Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott sets the well-known German Reformation hymn text by Martin Luther. This is a setting for SATB choir. The music opens with a strong, homophonic declaration of the text before developing into more imitative writing. Franck’s setting powerfully conveys the hymn’s message of God as a steadfast fortress and protector against the forces of evil. The motet offers a robust and dramatic musical interpretation of this iconic text, suitable for a serious sacred occasion.
