1. Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott,
Ein gute Wehr und Waffen.
Er hilft uns frei aus aller Not,

About Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott
Michael Praetorius's setting of Martin Luther's famous hymn Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott is a powerful motet for double choir (AABB). Written in German, the text offers robust theological comfort and a steadfast affirmation of faith in God's protection against all adversity. The hymn's verses speak of God as a strong fortress and refuge, a mighty defense against the 'old evil foe'. Praetorius's masterful arrangement would suit a service of Reformation or any occasion calling for an expression of spiritual resilience and divine assurance.
