Ave Maria

The familiar words of the Ave Maria are given a devotional setting by Palestrina in this rich motet for ATTB choir. The text, taken from the opening of the Hail Mary prayer, focuses on the angel Gabriel's greeting to the Virgin Mary: "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb." Palestrina's setting masterfully captures the serene and reverent tone of the Latin text, creating a moment of profound contemplation.
