Stay With Me

"Stay With Me" draws us into the quiet, agonizing moments of Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane. The repetitive, meditative chorus anchors the choir and congregation, while the verses—sung by the Evangelist and Jesus—narrate the profound sorrow and surrender of that night. The simple plea to "remain here with me, watching and praying" makes it a deeply moving piece for Holy Week, particularly during Holy Thursday adoration, or as a reflective Communion hymn during the Lenten season.

Paired on this sheet is a gentle Taizé "Kyrie," offering a simple, harmonized cry for mercy. Together, these chants create an atmosphere of stillness and penitence. The solfa arrangement allows choirs to easily learn and sustain the layered harmonies that give Taizé music its characteristic warmth and spiritual depth.
