SANCTUS

When the Eucharistic Prayer begins and the congregation prepares to kneel, the choir leads the faithful into the great hymn of heaven. This handwritten solfa arrangement of the "Sanctus" by Okeke Charles brings a steady, reverent energy to that sacred moment in the Mass. Sung entirely in Latin, the piece builds from the solemn, measured opening declarations of "Sanctus, Sanctus" into a bright and lifting "Hosanna in excelsis."

The arrangement is thoughtfully structured to give different voices their moment to shine, featuring a dedicated solo passage for the first Hosanna before the full choir responds. There is even a soaring descant marked for the final Hosanna, allowing the sopranos to lift the melody even higher just before the consecration.
