Ọmala Eyi Ọjọ

"Ọmala Eyi Ọjọ" is a reverent Igala setting of the Agnus Dei, composed by Sam C. Ezugwu. Sung during the breaking of the bread, this piece brings the traditional Lamb of God into the tonal beauty of the Igala language. The choir leads the faithful in a gentle, flowing plea for mercy ("cheju mọ mi wa") before concluding with the final prayer for peace ("De be bọ nwu wa").

Ezugwu's four-part harmony is written with a calm, steady tempo that perfectly matches the solemn mood of the Communion rite. As the voices blend across the Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass lines, the music creates a space of quiet reflection in the church, preparing the hearts of the congregation as they get ready to approach the altar.
