About OBILIGO!

"Obiligo!" is a triumphant Easter anthem by Jude Nnam that celebrates Christ's glorious resurrection and victory over death. The title, which rings out with the news "He has risen," sets the tone for a piece overflowing with joy and exultation. The refrain calls on everyone to bring their instruments and join the dance, declaring that the Son of God has conquered the grave and proven Himself the Almighty Warrior ("Odogwu n'agha").

The verses take the choir through the Easter story, from the sorrow and scourging at Gethsemane and the cross, to the women searching the empty tomb at dawn, the angel's message to go to Galilee, and finally a taunt to death itself: "Ọnwụ O lee ike gị?" (Death, where is your power?). It is a perfect fit for Easter Sunday Mass, especially during the Offertory or as a celebratory Recessional, where its lively rhythm and powerful message of victory can truly move the congregation to rejoice.
