LAMB of GOD

"Lamb of God" by Sixtus Unigwe is a majestic, four-part setting of the Agnus Dei, written out in clear solfa notation. The melody carries a solemn and reverent weight, perfectly suited for the fraction rite when the bread is broken at the altar.

As the choir moves through the familiar English text, the harmony parts weave together to support the soprano line's plea. The composer includes a helpful note at the bottom of the page reminding the choir of the proper liturgical flow: singing "have mercy on us" for the first two times, and resolving into "Grant us your peace" on the third.
