1. Ak, Jēzu mans, Tev tiesu spriež,
Tev rūgta nāve jāizcieš,
Tev, caur ko gūstam dzīvību
un debess laimi mūžīgu.
Ak, mīļais Jēzu, kā Tu ciet!
No mums Tev sāpēs jāaiziet,
kaut uzņēmis šo nastu Tu,
lai debesīm mēs nezustu.

About Krustaceļa dziedājumi (Chants of Via Crucis)
This arrangement of traditional Latvian sacred laments takes us through the Via Crucis, the Way of the Cross. The SATB choir voices the sorrowful prayers and reflections of Jesus' suffering and sacrifice. The text, in Latvian, directly addresses Jesus, lamenting his bitter fate and eternal sacrifice for humanity. It expresses profound empathy for his pain, asking for his peace to be a refuge during times of suffering, mirroring his own humble endurance. The refrains, sung by Cantor and People, provide moments of communal devotion, acknowledging Jesus' sacrifice and imploring mercy for the world. These chants offer a powerful and moving reflection on the Passion.
