Jacob Handl's motet Jerusalem, gaude gaudio magno is a rich and sonorous setting for SATTTB voices. The Latin text, drawn from scripture, exclaims joy for the coming of the saviour to Jerusalem. It calls for the transformation of the landscape, with mountains and hills made level for the Lord's arrival, before a plea for the Second Coming and a call to live righteously in expectation of this blessed hope.
