May angels lead you into paradise, and martyrs receive you into the holy city of Jerusalem. May the choir of angels welcome you and grant you eternal rest, like Lazarus the poor man. This setting of the traditional Requiem text is for double choir (SSAATTBB), whose rich sonorities are perfectly suited to the comforting and aspirational nature of the words. The Latin text invokes a heavenly vision, a peaceful transition from earthly life to eternal peace, a theme well-suited to choral music.
