In lachrymis by Daniel Friderici — Lyrics
In lachrymis sua qui multis modo semina mittunt:
Lætitia in magna postea farra metent, postea farra metent.
About In lachrymis
Daniel Friderici’s motet In lachrymis, set for SSATB voices, offers a profound musical reflection on a biblical text. The words speak of the eventual joy that follows hardship, asserting that those who sow in tears shall reap a great harvest of gladness. This Latin sacred work, within the genre of motets, masterfully conveys this message of hope and perseverance through its polyphonic texture. The composer's setting underscores the spiritual significance of the text, providing a moving experience for both choir and listeners. It is a compelling choice for choirs looking to explore the rich tradition of sacred motets with a powerful textual message.
