Hieronymus Praetorius's In dulci jubilo is a grand motet for double choir, SSAT.ATBB, combining German and Latin texts. It draws upon the beloved medieval carol whose words speak of joyous celebration of the newborn Jesus. The motet vividly portrays the Nativity scene, with musical depictions of the Virgin's embrace of her child, the radiant light of the infant, and the joyful song of angels in the heavenly court.
