I WILL SING TO THE LORD

"I Will Sing to the Lord" is a vibrant choral setting of the Song of Moses from Exodus 15. This great canticle of victory captures the sheer relief and triumph of the Israelites after crossing the Red Sea. The refrain is bold and declarative, setting a tone of absolute trust in God's saving power, while the verses recount the dramatic defeat of Pharaoh's chariots and the sinking of his officers.

In the Catholic liturgy, this text is most powerfully experienced during the Easter Vigil, sung as the responsorial tract immediately following the dramatic reading of the parting of the Red Sea.
