Hodie completi sunt

This motet is for Pentecost, celebrating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples. The Latin text, 'Hodie completi sunt dies Pentecostes', speaks of the fulfillment of Pentecostal days and the appearance of the Holy Spirit in fire, granting spiritual gifts. The composer Jacopo Antonio Cardillo sets this sacred text for a large SATTB choir, requiring a rich and varied vocal palette. The music reflects the solemnity and power of the event, with the alleluias underscoring the joyful proclamation of the gospel message that the disciples were sent to share throughout the world. It is a substantial work for a choir seeking to explore the profound themes of this pivotal moment in Christian history.
