Gloria in excelsis Deo - 2nda pars Qui tollis

This setting of the Gloria from the Mass Ordinary is divided into two parts, with this second section, Qui tollis, presenting the latter portion of the text. The music is scored for double SATB choir, creating rich sonic possibilities through the interplay of eight voices. The composer Adam Gumpelzhaimer explores the devotional text, which pleads for mercy and acceptance of God's will, with a polyphonic texture that allows for intricate contrapuntal lines. The scoring for two choirs offers opportunities for antiphonal effects and a fuller, more resonant sound as the choirs combine.
