About Gloria a Dio
Francesco Mancini's Gloria a Dio is a sacred motet for SATB choir, set in Italian. The text is a fervent setting of the Gloria, a traditional eucharistic text expressing praise and adoration to God. It begins by proclaiming glory to God in the highest and peace on earth, before moving into a series of affirmations of praise, blessing, and glorification. The choir implores God's mercy and acceptance, acknowledging Christ's unique holiness and divinity. The piece culminates in a powerful affirmation of the triune God – Christ with the Holy Spirit in the glory of God the Father – concluding with Amen.
