Balthasar Resinarius's Gaude Maria Virgo is a rich SATB motet setting a Latin text of Marian praise. The music opens with an energetic and flowing interplay between the four voices, celebrating the Virgin Mary. The text, derived from a Marian antiphon, extols Mary's unique role in overcoming heresy through her faith and her perpetual virginity, culminating in a plea for her intercession.
