About Factus est repente
Heinrich Isaac's SATB setting of Factus est repente opens with a sense of sudden divine intervention. The Latin text, drawn from the Acts of the Apostles, describes the dramatic descent of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples. Isaac's music captures this event with a vibrant, imitative texture that builds in intensity, reflecting the amazement and awe of those present. The repeated alleluias add to the exultant mood as the disciples are filled with the Holy Spirit and begin to speak the mighty works of God.
