Factum est silentium

This motet for SATB voices sets a dramatic Latin text depicting a celestial battle. The music opens with a hushed stillness, representing the silence in heaven, before building to the awesome vision of myriads of angels singing praises to God. The music vividly portrays the conflict between the dragon and the Archangel Michael, culminating in a powerful declaration of salvation, honour, and glory to the Almighty. Felice Anerio’s setting captures the profound spiritual and dramatic intensity of the apocalyptic vision, making it a stirring choice for services or concerts.
