About Ex ore infantium
Ivan Lukačić was a Croatian composer of the early Baroque period. This motet, Ex ore infantium, is written for four-part women's voices (SSSA) and sets a Latin text drawn from Psalm 8:2. The composer takes the biblical phrase, 'Out of the mouths of babes and infants you have perfected praise because of your enemies,' and uses it to underscore the power of divine praise to overcome opposition. The text speaks of the inherent strength of praise, even from the most innocent, in the face of adversity, culminating in the triumphant Alleluia.
