Ein Keloheinu by Salamone Rossi — Lyrics
About Ein Keloheinu
This setting of the traditional Hebrew prayer Ein Keloheinu is for two choirs, SATB and SATB, creating a rich and resonant sound. Rossi was a leading composer in Mantua during the early Baroque, and this motet showcases his ability to blend the polyphonic traditions of his time with the vibrant spirit of Jewish liturgical music. The text, which proclaims God's uniqueness and power, is treated with majestic dignity. The repetitions and affirmations within the prayer are amplified by the antiphonal possibilities of the double choir, making it particularly suitable for a festival occasion or a significant moment in a service.
