Egredietur Dominus

Michael Kraf’s Egredietur Dominus is a powerful motet for double choir (SATB.ATTB) in Latin. The music opens with an assertive depiction of God going forth to do battle, setting the scene for a dramatic musical unfolding. The text, drawn from scripture, speaks of the Lord’s divine power and his ultimate triumph over all nations, with his feet standing upon the Mount of Olives. Kraf’s setting, with its rich, antiphonal writing, expertly conveys the majestic and martial aspects of this prophetic vision, offering a compelling and grand musical experience for a well-resourced choir.
