About Eftakh Na Sefatay

The Hebrew text of Eftakh Na Sefatay is a prayer for divine inspiration, asking God to open the singer's lips to praise Him. The text invokes God as the living God and redeemer, and calls for Jerusalem to be rebuilt and for the return of the exiles. Salamone Rossi's motet is set for SAB and ATTB choirs, offering a rich polyphonic texture. Rossi, a significant composer of the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods, was known for his sacred Hebrew works, which were published in Venice.
