Edisana Edisana by Omachi Atome Michael — Lyrics
About Edisana Edisana
"Edisana Edisana" is a vibrant setting of the Sanctus in the Efik language, composed by Omachi Michael. Sung during the Liturgy of the Eucharist, this piece captures the awe and majesty of the heavenly chorus. The music reflects the deep reverence of the moment just before the consecration, carrying the traditional words of the "Holy, Holy, Holy" into a bright, indigenous expression of worship.
The arrangement features the lively, interwoven vocal parts that make Nigerian choral music so engaging to sing. After the opening declaration of "Edisana, Edisana, Edisana" and the acknowledgment of the Lord God of hosts ("Obong Abasi udim ekong"), the choir breaks into a polyphonic section to proclaim that heaven and earth are full of His glory. The soaring "Hosanna ke ata ikpa enyong" brings an uplifting energy to the sanctuary. It is a wonderful piece for choirs wanting to lead the congregation in joyful praise at the altar.
