This grand seven-part motet sets a Latin text from the Old Testament, celebrating the coming of a righteous king who will rule with wisdom and justice. The text, proclaiming "Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and a king shall reign and be wise, and shall execute judgment and justice in the land. And this is the name by which he will be called: The Lord is our righteousness," speaks of hope and divine promise. Caspar Vincent's setting for SSAATTB voices is a powerful and sonorous work, ideal for a festival occasion or for a choir looking to present a substantial and uplifting sacred motet with rich, complex choral textures.
