Ebeanlen Tohanmhan

"Ebeanlen Tohanmhan" is a gentle, straightforward setting of the Kyrie eleison, sung in the Esan language. During the Penitential Rite, the choir's role is to lead the congregation in a sincere plea for God's mercy before the Mass truly gets underway. This piece does exactly that, keeping the focus entirely on the prayer itself without unnecessary distraction.

The solfa arrangement by B.E.A.G is brief and accessible, moving naturally through the traditional three-part invocation. After singing the opening "Ebeanlen tohanmhan" and the central "Kristi tohanmhan," the choir returns to the first melody to close the rite. It is the kind of unassuming, deeply reverent music that settles the church and prepares everyone for the Liturgy of the Word.
