Double chant in D major

The composer John Camidge provides a setting of Psalm 95 in this Double Chant, an extended form of Anglican chant often used for psalms. Camidge's SATB setting in D major begins with the words "Venite, exsultemus Domino" (O come, let us sing unto the Lord), setting the jubilant tone of the text which invites us to celebrate God's greatness and to enter His presence with thanksgiving. The music moves through contrasting moods, from the initial joyous praise to the more cautionary admonitions found later in the psalm, urging listeners not to harden their hearts. This substantial work would serve well as a powerful expression of congregational devotion.
