About Dominus dixit ad me
The text of Dominus dixit ad me draws from Psalm 2, famously proclaiming 'The Lord said to me: You are my son, today I have begotten you'. It continues with a questioning of the nations' rage and the kings' and princes' united stand against the Lord and his Anointed. Robert Hugill sets this powerful Latin text for SATB choir. The motet explores the divine assertion of sonship and the earthly opposition it provokes, offering a dramatic and theological narrative through its sacred choral setting.
