This substantial motet by Thomas Tallis explores the Psalm 15, a text asking who is worthy to dwell in God's presence. The Latin lyrics speak of integrity, truthfulness and righteous living as the path to holiness. Setting this sacred text, Tallis crafts a work of significant contrapuntal interest, exploring the textual themes through imitative polyphony. The composer uses a rich, full sound, writing for two distinct choirs: one of treble, soprano, alto, tenor and bass voices (SAATB), and another of countertenor, treble, tenor and bass voices (ATTBB).
