About Domine deduc me in justitia tua
Philippe de Monte's Domine deduc me in justitia tua is a five-part motet for ATBBB voices. The music opens with an imitative texture, the voices entering in turn to develop the solemn Latin text. The composer uses the rich sonority of the five lower voices to create a powerful and devotional atmosphere. The text is a prayer from Psalm 5, imploring God's guidance and protection amidst enemies. De Monte's setting captures the supplicatory nature of the words, building in intensity and expressing a profound sense of reliance on divine justice and mercy.
