Giovanni Ghizzolo was a composer of the early Baroque period. This secular aria, set in Italian, is written for solo soprano. The text uses vivid imagery to express the beauty of nature and human features. It urges rosy cheeks to blush and stars to shine, comparing them to roses and the sun, and asks golden hair to be revealed from its snare. The lyrics speak of opening lips to smile, promising that such an act will bring joy to the heavens and the earth.
